An Italian Adventure

lynn

My Italian adventure started in 2012 with my first trip to Italy and culminated in 2017 with my move to Panicale with my two dogs and four suitcases!
I love everything about this area in Umbria except maybe the roads but they are what they are. Living in the countryside is very different than living in the American South but in s good way. I have a wonderful apartment in Panicale with the view of a lifetime; mountains and olive groves. It seems the view changes every minute as the sun chases the clouds. I have many places to walk the girls and revel in the beauty of Umbria. My apartment is very spacious by Italian standards and the best part is the fenced garden and sunroom for the dogs. I invested in a new washing machine and decided to splurge on a clothes dryer, something you see rarely in Italy. One of the most important aspects of living in Italy is preparation; I should have started learning Italian much sooner and I can’t emphasis enough studying for the driving test. It must be taken in Italian so start as soon as you know you will move to Italy; not all areas have public transportation.
The food is of course fabulous and the charming custom of caffe at the bar is one of my favorite things!
Do I regret moving to Italy? Never! I’m living a dream but please remember that this dream took several years of preparation to come true. A presto!
